Evidence Found:
J. C.Penney cardboard box-
The box in which the boy was found was a 15'' x 19''x 35'' box that had previously contained a baby bassinet or crib. It was slightly large and adequate enough for the young boy to fit in effortless. The box was traced to the J.C. Penney from which it was sold in Pennsylvania and the records indicated that it was sold sometime between December 27, 1956 and February 16, 1957. Unfortunately at that time J.C. Penney stores had a cash only policy and the person who bought the crib was never identified.
The box was very dry in the inside and in very good condition when found indicating that the box could have not been outside for a long time. The box was later sent to the FBI for fingerprints but no distinct prints were found.
The crib did, however, lead to some possible suspects and helped investigators narrow their search. Since the box contained white paint inside the crib must have been white.

A Man's Cap-
The cap was of royal blue color with a leather strap on the back and a buckle . The cap was about 17 feet from where the box was found and a path lead directly to it. The cap did not contain anything significant in itself but the police traced place where the cap was made and found the person who sold the cap. The man said that only 12 of those caps were sold but the one found had something extra added on.The man who bought the cap asked for the buckle at the back to be put. The maker of the cap reported that his customer had a strong resemblance to the boy found dead.
